ABOUT ME

As an Arsenal fan since the mid-90s, I have been lucky enough to witness the team I support compete and win at the highest level, while playing a brand of football that has both educated and spoilt me. Like many an Arsenal fan of the same period, the investment in this football team is far more than shirt deep. Arsene Wenger represents a huge part of my childhood. The teams he put together are akin to superheroes. The Invincibles akin the legend. Thierry Henry is royalty. And the Emirates Stadium a Palace. From too young an age, and up to today, my mood has been too heavily influenced by the outcome of 22 men kicking a ball across a field for 90 minutes 1-2 times a week. But I have fully accepted this as a part of me. And truly don’t hope to change.

Since the last title winning season in 2004 and the departure of Arsene Wenger in 2018, the peaks and troughs of the team, and the consequent instability of my mood, made me question my interest in the premier league and football entirely. I took an interest in domestic rugby (having played thought secondary school), then became addicted to basketball (the NBA) in 2012 and would be following the NHL if it didn’t mean having to become completely nocturnal for half the year. In the last 2 years, I have even developed a deep interest in chess!!

While every sport will claim to be the most entertaining, most physically, mentally, or technically challenging, or be the most popular, I do not share the same connection as I do to football because of Arsenal Football Club…

But I have gained a whole new perspective to view the Premier League. Similar to the words of T. S Eliot “the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time”. The knowledge, entertainment, and enrichment I’ve gained from these mediums of sport inspired me to finally create this site and share my random, sport-related musings to the internet.
